I’m a little behind on my For Whom the Bell Tolls post, so this is a filler until I stop procrastinating. This quote is from Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech (a book that I found to be a welcome surprise). You can read about my thoughts on it here.
I love this quote because we do seem to spend a lot of our time on things that are really not that important. Instead, if we can remember to spend even just a little time on the things that really matter, I believe we will be happier. I have looked back on lost opportunities with regret. We can avoid that little twinge of sadness by making time for the most important parts of life.
Spending time with our loved ones, developing a skill, learning something new, enjoying nature, improving our mind or body, and becoming a more developed person are all things we will never regret.
Life gets busy quickly, and it’s important to have downtime too. But we should also value the things that matter the most and find time for them above all.
Great quote! I completely agree with your thought. We should focus on the things that really matter. Like the saying goes, ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff.’ 😉 xx
Thanks, Vashti. Exactly!
That’s a very true quote. We do waste a lot of time on things that don’t end up being important. Good reminder Eric:)
Thanks, Denise!
Wise words. I try to spend as much time as I can with my grown children when they visit (talking to them that is!), for each visit is precious, especially as so many years have flown…The same goes for my dear husband, *who is now ninety! (while mentally forty…) Humour and kindness have helped a long marriage and we truly appreciate each day and each other. Best wishes..* He’s an Eric too…
Erics are very good to have around, Joy! Sounds like you two get along well.
